What I observed is that though manjaro defaults to Wayland and Pop uses X11 and is Wayland capable for the sake of remote desktop sharing to work seemlessly I had to rely on X11.įor Manjaro don' try the tar.gz it fails as that version is not supported for Arch based systems. Gigabit ethernet port is shared between router and modem while the manjaro uses the fast ethernet port on the modem. Well my modem is a Alphion 1103 while the router is Belkin N750. (So even though DHCP these two machines always get their dedicated WLAN/LAN IPs). The modem runs the DHCP.īoth Manjaro and Pop use DHCP with static IPs configured on the DHCP settings on the router itself. Internet is from the modem shared to as DHCP to the router. Note my machines are 2 floors away and Manjaro system is connected to the modem directly thru ethernet While the Pop is on a wifi connecting to a router which is connected to the modem thru ethernet. Further I needed the audio to play on my ear phones on Pop when its played on the remote desktop of the Manjaro server! And some videos or content I create or have placed on its share would like to play there while view it from my Pop machine. I have a Pop-os(Ubuntu/Debian) Lenovo 430 workstation Laptop with Manjaro (Arch) Dell Inspiron 7537 connected to a Dell P170S Monitor which is actually my LAMP server(Linux with Apache, MariaDB and PHP) I sometimes require to connect them thru RDC to check on files while I could use ssh and ftp or for the DB a Beaver Sql query, I prefer to use RDC when checking on images and media files I have there. One of the most intriguing topics which we find is vagely discussed or isnt made available on its the way to make it work is Remote Desktop sharing between home networked PCs and servers.
